Hartman Farms offers weekly riding lessons for all ages and ability levels of riders. Whether you are just starting out, are interested in buying your own horse, are getting back in the saddle after many years, or are seeking to achieve specific goals, Hartman's can assist you.

Our lessons are given by highly-qualified and experienced instructors. Both western and English instruction is available on experienced horses who can assist in the instruction process.

All lessons include grooming and saddling your horse, an hour in the saddle, and cooling off the horse post-ride.

In addition to a large, insulated indoor arena, Hartman Farms also offers two outdoor arenas, a round pen, and over 1,000 acres of trails.

Lesson Pricing and Schedule

Schedule:

Monday--6:00

Tuesday--5:30 and 6:45 (adult only)

Wednesday--6:00

Thursday--6:15

Saturday--9:00 and 10:15

Reservations are required for all lessons. Please call in advance to book your spot.

Pricing:

Single lesson--30 dollars

3-lesson introduction package--54 dollars

10-lesson package--240 dollars

Private lesson--40 dollars

Camp Schedule

Day Camps are a great way for young horse enthusiasts to experience a day learning about horse care. Campers will spend two sessions in the saddle, and will learn the basics of horse care and ownership.

We had a great time at our fall day camps. Watch for the spring day camp schedule soon!

Summer Youth Camps are a week-long extension of our day camps, and are quite popular among horse-crazy kids! Ages 6 to 18 are welcome at the camp. Highlights of the week include: working with the vet, helping trim a horse's feet, trail ride, horse show, and more. Two sessions in the saddle are included each day. All ability levels are welcome.

Boarding and Training

Boarding

Hartman Farms offers spacious stalls for indoor boarding. In addition, pasture boarding is available for retired horses, or those who live best outside. The facilities available include: an insulated indoor arena for comfortable year-round riding, two outdoor arenas, a round pen, several pastures, a heated wash rack, a heated/air conditioned office and viewing lounge, and tack rooms. The large, box stalls provide comfort for your horse.As a boarder, you are given access to the facility at any time from 8:00-10:00 p.m. daily. Feed and stall cleaning are included. Turnout is available upon request. Hartman Farms' boarding is set apart from others because of the over 1,400 acres and 8 miles of trails that are available. The beautiful scenery offers open space, shady picnic spots, muliple creek/James River crossings, and lots of space to enjoy from the back of your horse. The atmosphere at the barn is one of support and acceptance. No matter your horse's background and your future goals, you will find a spot at Hartman Farms. The amenities available to both you and your horse will give you a fun, safe, social, and ideal spot to work and ride.

Training

The training staff at Hartman Farms have the ability to bring a young horse to its full potential, or to polish an older horse. The training program consists of sound basics so the horse is able to succeed.Training also includes lessons with the trainer in order to provide a full education on the horse and its program. Lessons are unlimited when a horse is in training; these lessons must be scheduled with the trainer in advance.The Hartmans have the knowledge and expereince to assist a rider and his or her horse in becoming a winning team, whether that is in the show pen or as a successful trail or pleasure horse.

Showing and Awards

The Hartman showing team consists of several youth and adults, competing in a wide range of events. The horses and riders are competitive at all major AQHA shows in the events of Showmanship, Western Riding, Western Horsemanship, English Equitation, Trail, and Reining. Jamie Hartman excels at motivating individuals and helping them to become a true team when combined with their horse; this presents a winning combination. Watch for updates as our riders continue to travel the show circuit.

Hartman Show Team Jordan and A Pretty Good MissThese two have been a team for the past two years, competing in Western Pleasure, Western Riding, Western Horsemanship, and Showmanship.

Calli and Good Time Walker

Calli and Arizona have recently added Western Riding to their events, including Western Pleasure, Western Horsemanship, and Showmanship. This team has placed in the top 5 at all recent shows.
Mandy and Smartest ReminicMandy and Snip came together to compete in Amateur and Open Reining. At their debut last March, they brought home top placingsin all classes.
